CALC Statement on the Passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings

The Childhood Asthma Leadership Coalition joins our partners in the children’s health community, the social justice movement, and people around the country to express our sincere sadness on the loss of Congressman Elijah Cummings. He was an unwavering champion for health care equity and justice, and a leader on policies that helped children and families impacted by asthma. Among his many contributions throughout his life and career to health care justice, he recently introduced bipartisan legislation, the Family Asthma Act, which would expand federal, state, and local efforts to improve care for individuals with asthma. Congressman Cummings changed the lives of countless Marylanders and millions of people throughout the country. We mourn his loss and will carry on his legacy.
